New York Street Cart Nachos

This dish was born from one simple question: what if a legendary halal cart platter and loaded nachos had a late-night street food baby? The answer is pure chaos in the best way possible. Crunchy chips, juicy meats, creamy sauce, and bold spices layered into one over-the-top platter that disappears fast every single time.

Directions

Crispy homemade tortilla chips loaded with spiced halal chicken, savory ground lamb, melty cheddar cheese, black beans, corn, tomatoes, and drenched in creamy halal white sauce for the ultimate NYC street-food-meets-nacho experience.

  1. 1.Prepare the Chicken
  2. 2.In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and mix until fully coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  3. 3.Cook the Lamb
  4. 4.Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground lamb along with coriander, cumin, cinnamon, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and slightly crispy around the edges. Remove and set aside.
  5. 5.Cook the Chicken
  6. 6.In the same skillet or on a grill pan, cook the marinated chicken until golden brown and fully cooked through. Remove and chop into bite-sized pieces if needed.
  7. 7.Make the Tortilla Chips
  8. 8.Cut tortillas into triangles. Heat oil to 350°F and fry chips in batches until golden and crispy, about 45–60 seconds. Transfer to paper towels and immediately sprinkle with salt.
  9. 9.Prepare the White Sauce
  10. 10.In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, sugar, garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  11. 11.Build the Nachos
  12. 12.Preheat oven to 400°F. Spread tortilla chips onto a large baking sheet or oven-safe platter. Top evenly with cheddar cheese, chicken, lamb, black beans, corn, and tomatoes.
  13. 13.Bake
  14. 14.Bake for 5–7 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling.
  15. 15.Finish & Serve
  16. 16.Drizzle generously with halal white sauce. Garnish with chopped cilantro and pickled jalapeños if desired. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
